THE GREAT RIDGES CROSSING

70 KM AND 5’100 M D+

A modern day challenge, starting in a Middle Age stronghold, the beautiful Aigle Castle and its postcard settings nested in the middle of the Vaud, Valais and French Alps.

You will need much bravery and heart to face the first and terrible leg of this 69km long race with 4’900 meters of positive elevation: a 1500m D+ climb through forgotten paths that will get you to join the MXTREME track at the Col d’Argniaules, on your way toward the Grand Chamossaire.

Running up and down the Grand and the Petit Chamossaire, you will need to focus on your steps, and not let yourself get distracted by the breathtaking scenery of the Diablerets in front of you, the Mont-Blanc in the distance and the Lake of Bretaye below you. You will get to the Lake of Chavonnes, and its sleeping dragon and then down to the aid station in Le Sépey.

Those of you who will survive this first part of the journey will head up toward the three Towers of , Famelon, Mayen and Aï overseeing and protecting Leysin. The descent toward Corbeyrier, home to the 2020 winner of the MXTREME, will get you to the well deserved third aid station. Rebuild your strengths before the long journey toward the ridge of Malatraix and its sight over the biggest lake of Western Europe. But don’t fool yourself, you still have to climb up the Rocher de Naye, after the penultimate aid station in Col de Chaude, and only then can you dive toward Montreux, and your thighs will welcome the rest in the last aid station in Hauts de Caux before a last exhuberant run down the canyon of Chauderon.

These are just the headlines. Hold your breath and get ready for more surprises!
