ROUTE

quand le rythme de la course rencontre celui de la musique
20KM, 1'300M+
Born from the desire to offer an itinerary accessible all year round — or almost — this new 4‑season training route draws inspiration from the iconic courses of the Montreux Trail Festival while paying a sporting tribute to Claude Nobs, founder of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival, who lived at the very heart of this loop. The start is in Glion, a natural balcony overlooking Montreux, where you can already feel that unique energy between lake and mountains.
From the very first metres, the trail invites runners to rediscover places well known to participants of the summer event: forest paths alternating between smooth and steeper sections, panoramic passages overlooking Lake Geneva, traverses beneath the Rochers de Naye, and more dynamic segments that echo the rhythm changes typical of the race’s courses.
As the seasons pass, the route transforms without ever losing its character.
-
In spring, the undergrowth opens up and light filters through the trees.
-
In summer, the itinerary becomes a shaded refuge, perfect for early‑morning outings.
-
In autumn, the vibrant colours turn every bend into a living painting.
-
In winter, the path is sometimes still passable, offering a rawer yet equally inspiring atmosphere. Some caution is advised, however, particularly regarding conditions in the Pra Forney area.
Since the Chauderon Gorges are usually closed in winter, and sometimes for even longer, we chose not to include them in this 4‑season route.
This 4‑season route is an invitation to explore a living, evolving training terrain — faithful to the spirit of the Montreux Trail Festival, yet accessible throughout the year.
For runners looking for a slightly more accessible option, it is also possible to start from Caux Station, following a route of around 15 km with 900 m of elevation gain.

DIFFICULTY
★(★) The 20 km route already has all the characteristics of a true trail: some elevation gain, a few technical sections — but not too many — and even a few steps. In short, the perfect combination both for beginners and for those looking for a complete and varied training course.
TRANSPORT
Glion is located just 5 minutes by car from the centre of Montreux.
It is also possible to take the train to Glion from the Pacot, Crêt d’y Bau and Haut de Caux stops, all of which are easily accessible from the route.
FOOD SERVICE
In Haut-de-Caux, the restaurant Le Coucou offers not only delicious traditional dishes, but also one of the most beautiful views over Lake Geneva. Why not recharge your batteries before tackling the final kilometres?
Glion also has several quality restaurants, including the Buffet de la Gare and, of course, the renowned Hôtel Victoria with its 14 Gault‑Millau points.
