We all came out to Montreux ¦ On the Lake Geneva shoreline
Smoke on the Water 1972, Deep Purple
The term festival is, of course, a nod to the event that put Montreux on the map: the Montreux Jazz Festival. It also reflects our desire to weave music into this event, which aims to stand out in the trail running world. As Deep Purple sang in their iconic 70s rock anthem: “We all came out to Montreux.”
Much like a music festival, we want to preserve a sense of freedom in our programming. From our perspective, trail running must retain its spirit of DISCOVERY — that’s its very essence — and for that reason, we choose not to lock in our routes permanently.
For its 9th edition, the Montreux Trail Festival brings back its two crossings of the Vaud Alps: the MXTREME 100 and the MXALPS 66, which will once again meet the “survivors” of CROSSING SWITZERLAND near Lac des Chavonnes.
Montreux Trail Festival wouldn’t be what it is without the symbolism of the most mustachioed Montreusian of all: Freddie Mercury. His statue will once again mark the starting point of FREDDIE'S NIGHT, pulsating to the rhythm of numerous artists spread along the route..
Crossing the finish line on Montreux’s Market Square — seemingly watched over by the statue of the legendary performer of Bohemian Rhapsody — is not only a moment of deliverance, but also a truly unique experience on the shores of Lake Geneva.
So, like us — are you ready to take on these new challenges ?
WE WILL ROCK YOU
