Where one generation leads the next
1+12KM, 650M+
For its 10th anniversary, the Montreux Trail Festival is innovating once again by making its MXFAMILY format more accessible and bringing all generations together.
Introducing Freddie’s Family — an original format where the hardest part may not be the climb… but figuring out which teammate enjoys the adventure the most.
The festivities begin on the Montreux lakeside, with the first relay entrusted to the youngest runners. While the adult fine‑tunes their gear or pretends to check equipment to hide a hint of pre‑race nerves, the child sets off on a one‑kilometre loop through the streets of the city before handing over the baton.
Then it’s time for the serious part. The adult heads toward the forests of Valmont, the alpine pastures of Glion, and the trails overlooking Lake Geneva. With nearly 650 metres of elevation gain, they will quickly discover that at the Montreux Trail Festival, even the “small” courses have plenty of character.
Fortunately, the stunning panoramas, the summer atmosphere, and the passage through the iconic Gorges du Chauderon help soften the effort — or at least distract the legs for a moment.
But the true magic of this race lies in its final act.
About one kilometre from the finish, the young teammate reunites with their partner to run the last stretch together. No more stopwatch, no more ranking, no more elevation gain. Just one final kilometre shared side by side, cheered on by the crowd, with Lake Geneva as the backdrop.
A simple, authentic, and often emotional moment. Because some memories last far longer than a finishing time.
Whether you’re a future champion, a running parent, an adventurous grandparent, or simply a lover of beautiful moments, this race was designed to celebrate what truly matters: the joy of running and sharing.
Somebody to Love No need to have won Wimbledon or climbed Everest. Today, champions are simply those who cross the finish line together.
